This spring I was given the opportunity to work at the High Point Furniture Market for Sunpan Modern Home. Sunpan is a global furniture company that specializes in transitional and contemporary furnishings. Their pieces are affordable, while still looking high end. I worked as an assistant to the showroom designers, preparing the space before the onset of market-goers. Showroom design is very fast paced but very rewarding. Seeing everything come together after months of preparation is inspiring. One of my responsibilities while there was preparing and placing floral arrangements. The principles and elements of design came into play when deciding how and where to arrange. It is amazing what fresh greenery can do to a space. Some of my favorite trends were velvet occasional chairs, modular tables, and live edge pieces. I am thankful to have had the experience of seeing what goes on behind the scenes at market, and learning a new side of design.
